FIRST AGRICULTURAL PROJECT
PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND COMPONENTS
The main objectives of the project were: increase of the efficiency of agricultural research programs, especially, food export programs, strengthening of research institutes in the key sectors of agriculture, including development of sector strategy and preparation of sector investments. 11 private farms and 9 research institutes and state services were beneficiaries of the project.
Implementation of project components provided:
§ Equipping the research institutes with up-to-date equipment for testing and production of vine and fruit virus-free planting material and equipment for experimental processing of fruit and wine;
§ Diversifying the fruit and vine genetic banks;
§ Establishing vine nurseries;
§ Equipping research institutes with necessary technical means for elaboration and acquirement of new adequate agricultural technologies;
§ Improving the food products quality control;
§ Training for researchers and specialists, improvement of the Agricultural Knowledge System.
