Other 28 agricultural producers will recover half of the investment made in SLM equipment and practices

Grants amounting to over 10 million lei will be paid to 28 agricultural producers in Moldova, selected for funding following the fifth call for applications under the post – investment ”Sustainable land management (SLM)” grants program. The money will go to the South of the country – 13 beneficiaries, to the North – 9 and the Center – 6. These figures show a trend of increasing interest of producers in the South, while those in the North used to be the most active so far.

Cumulatively, MACP has provided funds under the post-investment grants program for SLM to 145 agricultural producers out of the total of 186 who applied within the 5 calls launched by the Project. In this respect, the grants offset the costs of investments for the purchase of 179 machines (drills – 59, shredders (mowers) – 34, sprinklers – 32, combines – 14, etc.) as well as for the application of SLM practices (construction of 4 anti-erosion ponds and grassing with soil working around the trees in orchards).

So far, the project has provided financial support to agricultural producers in Moldova worth about 31.9 million lei, equivalent of 1.6 million US dollars. The average amount of a grant received by farmers is 219 868 lei (57 beneficiaries received grants of more than 300 000 lei, while the grant with the lowest value was of 20 947 lei).

During this program, grants have been awarded to farmers from all over the country. However, most of the beneficiaries are located in the North region – 86, followed by the South – 39 and Center – 20. The districts with the most beneficiaries of the grants are Glodeni – 16 beneficiaries; Falesti, Sangerei – 12; Rascani, Briceni – 10. One of the successes in the implementation of post-investment grants for SLM is the participation of women, they accounting for 14.5%.

The post-investment grant program „Sustainable land management” (SLM) was launched in 2014 and is part of MACP (Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project), financed by the World Bank, Government of Sweden, Global Environmental Facility and the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
