The members of producer groups created with the support of Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P) met today at a round table to discuss the results achieved in the first phase of the project, but also the opportunities provided by MAC-P following the Additional funding. The event was moderated by Ion PAREA, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Nicolae CIUBUC, Director of the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture and Olga SAINCIUC, Deputy Director of the Consolidated Agricultural Projects Management Unit, financed by the World Bank.
The participants were informed about the new provisions of the Grant Operations Manual and of the Group Recognition Regulation. At the same time, the results of the monitoring and evaluation for the year 2016 were presented. During the second part of the day, workshops were organized, where agricultural producers talked about the importance of group sales, the recognition and reporting process, common problems, pointing to the existing needs of the groups at the moment and identifying the needs for advisory support aimed at capacity building.
So far, 32 producer groups received funding under Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project, gathering a total number of 161 horticultural producers. The producers have invested in 29 cold storage dacilities, with a total capacity of 22 thousand tonnes. Also, investments have been made in 22 plum drying lines – 5 units, grading lines – 13 units and cold storafe vehicles, as well as specialized equipment for hazelnut and almond processing.
