On Wednesday, January 29, MAC-P organized a new round table for the producer groups financed under the Grant Program ”Enhancing Market Access Potential” to discuss the trends in the development of producer groups, the problems faced by them in the implementation of their business activity and the areas where project intervention is necessary in order to improve the capacities of its beneficiaries.
The event, attended by the representatives of the Consolidated Agricultural Projects Management Unit, financed by the World Bank, the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment and the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture, started with the presentation of the findings regarding the implementation of the recognition plans during the years 2018-2019 and of the recommendations aimed at ensuring the compliance with all measures provided by the recognition plans approved for each producer group. The amendments proposed to Law no. 312 regarding producer groups and their associations were also discussed.
So far, 39 producer groups have been financed through the MAC-P Project, of which 34 have obtained the status of the recognized group. The total amount of grants disbursed to the 39 groups constitutes $ 10.9 million. The main object of the investment made by the groups is the development of the cold storage infrastructure. Also, investments were made in dryers with plum processing lines, sorting lines, refrigerated transport units and specialized equipment for processing hazelnuts and almonds, as well as as a cardboard box manufacturing line.
The last call under the Grant Program “Enhancing market access potential” is currently ongoing.
